You typically start an Office
application from the Windows Start screen in Windows 8 or the Start menu in
Windows 7. You can also start an application and open a file at the same time
by opening a file sent to you as an email attachment or by double-clicking a
file from somewhere in your computer environment, such as your Windows desktop.
With the exception of OneNote and
Outlook, when you start an application without opening a file, the new
application Start screen appears
From the application Start screen,
you can open a recently used file, open an existing file, or create a new file
from a template. After you create a new file or open an existing one, the main
